Here is a glimpse of some of my areas of focus and specialty.
Play Therapy/Children and Adolescent Therapy
I enjoy working with children and adolescents experiencing a range of difficult emotions. Ranging from self-regulation, ADHD, suicidal ideation, anxiety, to anger and aggression, I use play therapy and age-appropriate techniques to help children and adolescents express themselves during therapy. I also enjoy helping parents and guardians as they come to workable solutions and good outcomes in their homes for their children.
Neurodiversity therapy is useful for those who have ADD/ADHD, are a highly sensitive person (HSP) and for those who are on the Autism Spectrum. I enjoy working with these individuals by creating a greater self-awareness and using practical skills to make everyday life easier.
Depression and Anxiety
I gained much of my early experience working in a PHP program for children and adolescents that came from difficult places and many of them struggles with suicidal thoughts and some with self-harm. I am able to work with individuals (children and adults alike) who struggle in those areas and I am passionate about helping them get to better places.
Perinatal Mental Health
Depression, anxiety, OCD and other mood disorders can onset during the perinatal period, not to mention the transitions in the family. I have specific training in this area to help families conquer the mental health challenges and transitions that often occur during the perinatal period
Divorce, separation, and going between two homes can be incredibly challenging for parents and children. I enjoy working with families to come up with creative solutions as they navigate what is often a tricky time.
I am EMDR trained and also utilize other trauma focused techniques to work through trauma in whatever capacity you have experienced it. I am able to use EMDR with adults and children. EMDR can be a very helpful treatment for many things that cause disruption in a person's life.
I am certified in Prepare-Enrich for those who are seeking to get married. For those seeking help as a couple to prepare for marriage, enrich their marriage, or co-parent to strengthen their relationship (and make things less difficult for those kiddos) I am a level 1 PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) trained clinician. I am also certified in Prepare-Enrich.
